Book Name:Aashiqoon Ka Hajj
Dear Islamic brothers! You have heard that when Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Bin Masrooq رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه left for the journey of Makkah, he left in an extremely poor state and barefooted. When he was asked the reason for this, what a beautiful reply he gave that when a slave presents himself in the court of his Master, then the right of the court is that the slave presents himself while walking on his head (i.e. with utmost reverence and respect); Whereas, I have just come barefooted. Undoubtedly, the appropriate manners of presenting oneself in the great court are that when a person goes there, he shouldn’t go there in an arrogant and boastful manner. Rather, he should attain the privilege of presenting himself (in the blessed court) in an extremely humble manner. Persuasion for this is also found in a blessed Hadees. Therefore, someone humbly asked in the blessed court of the Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم: ‘Ya Rasoolallah! How should a Haji be?’ He صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم responded: ‘With untidy hair and dust’. (Sharh-us-Sunnah lil-Baghawi, vol. 4, pp. 9, Hadees 1840)
