٭ The Holy Nabi صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: Whoever observes I’tikaf with faith and the intention to get reward, all of his previous sins will be forgiven. (Al-Jami’-us-Sagheer, pp. 516, Hadees 8480)
٭ The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: The one doing I’tikaf (for 10 days) in Ramadan is like the one who has performed Hajj and ‘Umrah twice. (Shu’ab-ul-Iman, vol. 3, pp. 425, Hadees 3966)
٭ I’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan is ‘Sunnat-ul-Muakkadah ‘Alal Kifayah.’ (Durr-e-Mukhtar ma’ Rad-dul-Muhtar, vol. 3, pp. 430) This implies that if any one person from the whole city does I’tikaf, it will be sufficient for everyone (in the city) but if no body did it then everyone is blameworthy. ٭ Observing Sawm is not a condition for Nafl I’tikaf and there is no time limit for it either. Whenever you enter a Masjid, make the intention of I’tikaf. (Faizan-e-Ramadan, pp. 235; summarized)
٭ The most important purpose of doing I’tikaf in Ramadan is to search for Layla-tul-Qadr. (Faizan-e-Ramadan, pp. 232)

٭ It is a special mercy of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ that the Mu’takif will gain the reward of even such righteous deeds he used to do outside the Masjid but can no longer perform them due to I’tikaf.
