* If a strict and authoritative person is present, people become silent out of fear and speak humbly—but how often do we remain mindful that Allah is always watching?
* This is why it is difficult to avoid sins when we are alone.
If only we could develop true fear of Allah and a sense of modesty before Him!
A Companion once came to the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Please advise me."
The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied: "Have modesty before Allah, just as you feel modest before a righteous person from your own community."[1]
This is a profound and powerful piece of advice!
Let us reflect:
* Would we use foul language if a righteous person was watching us? No!
* Would we speak indecently in their presence? No!
* Would we watch sinful and inappropriate content on our phones? No!
Imagine if we had the chance to spend just one day in the company of a truly pious and God-fearing individual.
* We would avoid so many of our usual daily actions just because of their presence.
* This is the effect of having one righteous person watching us.
Now, think:
