Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is the basic condition of Islam. They had made the love of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم the aim of their life. This is the reason why they are the heartbeat of the devotees of the Prophet even today despite centuries passing by.

Normally, doctors prescribe specific medicine to some patients. If patients take those medicines, then they stay fine, if not, then they go worse. Same was the case with the blessed Sahabah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم as they were captivated in the love of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. For them, beholding the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, company of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and obedience to the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم served as a medicine. It was difficult for them to survive without it. The ardent loyal devotees of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would note every single blessed habit of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and then act upon it.

The fact of Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loving and having devotion for his blessed Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم was such a matter that was not hidden from the blessed Sahabah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم. The blessed Sahabah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم knew it very well that how the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loves his Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم. This was the very reason why the blessed Sahabah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم also sincerely loved the blessed Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم and always kept a relationship of love and respect with them. To the extent that they would hold the Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم more beloved than their own relatives.

The blessed Sahabah and the love of Ahl-e-Bayt

It is narrated: When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was chosen as Ameer-ul-Mu`mineen (i.e. the leader of believers) and Khalifa-tul-Muslimeen (i.e. the caliph of Muslims), then due to having a relationship with the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ would take very good care of the blessed Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم. Moreover, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ would say regarding the Ahl-e-Bayt رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم: ‘The relatives of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم are more beloved to me than my own relatives.’ (Bukhari, vol. 3, pp. 29, Hadees 4036)
