2. Smile over the death of son
No one had ever seen Sayyiduna Fuzayl Bin ‘Iyaz رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه smiling, who was a great noble saint of the Chishtiyah spiritual order; but the day his son, Sayyiduna ‘Ali Bin Fuzayl رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه passed away, he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه started smiling. People asked him: ‘What kind of joyous occasion is this that you are smiling?’ He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه replied: ‘I am smiling while remaining content over the Will of Allah Almighty because my son has passed away out of the Will of Allah Almighty. I like whatever Allah Almighty likes.’ (Tazkira-tul-Awliya, vol. 1, pp. 86 - 87)
Son of Sayyiduna Mutarrif رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه passed away. People saw him extremely happy. They said: ‘What is the matter that you seem to be happy instead of being grieved?” He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه replied: “When I have the glad tidings of receiving mercy, blessings and guidance from Allah Almighty upon observing patience over this tragedy, then shall I become happy or grieved?” (Mukhtasar Minhaaj-ul-Qasideen, pp. 322)
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه عَزَّوَجَلَّ! You have heard that how amazingly the righteous people of Allah Almighty would observe patience over facing calamities. Upon being inflicted with severe calamities, they would still remain content upon the Will of Allah Almighty instead of becoming grieved or distressed. Moreover, they remain content in the times of calamities the way ordinary people remain content over receiving worldly blessings.
The aforementioned parable contains Madani pearls of advice for especially those who keep complaining such as:
٭ We are facing so-and-so disease or problem from a very long time. To get this problem removed, we keep making Du’as imploringly and ask others to make Du’a for us too. We even invoke Awraad-o-Wazaaif for it. We even offer Salah punctually and fast persistently.
