Fazilat Ka Maiyar Taqwa

Book Name:Fazilat Ka Maiyar Taqwa

Translation Kanz-ul-Iman: O believers! Men must not ridicule other men, it’s likely that the ridiculed are better than the mockers, nor must the women ridicule other women, it’s likely that the ridiculed women may be better than the mockers; and do not taunt one another, nor give evil nicknames. What a bad name it is to be called an evildoer after being a Muslim. And whoever does not repent, it is they who are unjust. (Part 26, Surah Al-Hujurat, Ayah 11)

Tafseer-e-Khaazin explains this glorious Ayah: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُمَا narrates: Sayyiduna Saabit Bin Qays رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ was hard of hearing. Whenever he visited the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم the other Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهُم ensured that room was made for him and that he was seated at the very front to ensure that he wouldn’t experience any complications whilst listening to the glorious speech of the Beloved Rasool
صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, since he would be sat right next to him. One particular day he was late and by the time he arrived the glorious gathering was full and in such a scenario it was usual for a late-comer 0to remain standing wherever he was. However Sayyiduna Saabit  رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُwas eager to sit close to the Noblest Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and hence advanced forward by making the attendees move out of his way. “Make way, make way.” He told the attendees as he advanced forward, until he actually came so close to the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم that there was only one other individual between him and the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He even asked that one man to make room. “You have enough room so sit down.” The man replied. Sayyiduna Saabit رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ angrily sat behind the man. Further into the middle of the day at one moment Hadrat Saabit رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ squeezed the man's body and enquired: “Who are you?” The man introduced himself. Following which Hadrat Saabit رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ mentioned the man's mother and said: “Son of so and so.” Back in those days this was a demeaning (condescending) phrase hence the man dropped his head due to embarrassment. It was on this particular occasion that All-Merciful Allah revealed this glorious Ayah.

(Tafseer-e-Khaazin, part 26, Al-Hujurat, Ayah 11)

Sayyiduna Imam Ahmad Bin Hajar Makki Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه elaborates on the same glorious Ayah: “The aim of this Divine command is to prohibit you
