10 examples of ostentation

1. To learn the art of reciting the Holy Quran so that Islamic sisters call her Qaariyah.

2. To say or write words that show humility for oneself such as sinful, worthless, etc. so that Islamic sisters will consider her to be a humble person and praise her humility.

3. To meet Islamic sisters in a good manner so that they will consider her to be of good character.

4. To wipe tears from eyes whilst weeping during Du’a, etc. in the presence of others so that Islamic sisters will get the impression that she is wiping her tears quickly to avoid ostentation.

5. To say such sentences to impress other Islamic sisters: I am very fearful of sins, I am in constant fear of losing my faith, what will happen to me in the dark grave, how will I give accountability on the day of judgement, etc.

6. To say sentences like ‘I avoid meeting rich and famous Islamic sisters’ to give the impression that she has no interest in this world and to make other Islamic sisters acknowledge her piety.

7. To saying comforting sentences upon hearing about the troubles of someone so that Islamic sisters consider her a sympathetic person.

8. To hold a Tasbih (string of beads) in the hand in such a way that makes Islamic sisters see it or recite Durood Shareef and other Wazaaif whilst moving the lips or reading it loud enough for other Islamic sisters to hear it, so that they will consider her to be a pious person.
