Book Name:Shetan Ki Insan Se Dushmani

The Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: Arrogance is to oppose the truth and think of others as inferior. (Muslim, pp. 61, Hadees 91)

Imam Raaghib Asfahani رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه writes: To think of oneself as better than others is arrogance. (Al-Mufradat, pp. 697)

Whosoever has arrogance in his heart is called ‘Mutakabbir’ [مُتَکَبِّر].

Methods of saving oneself from arrogance

Keep in mind the virtues of humility to save yourself from arrogance and like this, ponder and reflect over the fact that on the day of judgement, everyone will have to give accountability for what they did and I will also have to give accountability for my actions in the court of my Creator. If my merciful Creator gets displeased with me because of my arrogance and I am thrown into hell, then how will I bear the horrific punishment of hell? Contemplating in this manner will اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه greatly help to save oneself from arrogance.

Similarly, do Du’a that O Allah! I want to be pious. I want to free myself from arrogance and other evils, but my Nafs and Satan have overpowered me. Please help me in overcoming them. Make me pious and humble in my actions.
