Masjid e Quba

After migrating from Makkah Mukarramah, Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم came to a place called ‘Quba’ on 12th Rabi’-ul-Awwal, which is three miles away from Madinah Munawwarah. First thing to be done here was to construct a Masjid. Therefore, Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم preferred the land of Sayyiduna Kulsoom Bin Hidm رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ for the construction of this Masjid and laid the foundations of a Masjid with his own blessed hands. He صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also took part himself in the construction of this Masjid. He صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would pick up huge rocks with the blessed companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُم and cement them into the building. Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and blessed companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُم also offered Salah in Masjid-e-Quba. (Seerat-e-Mustafa, pp. 171, 175) This is Islam’s first Masjid which was built for common Muslims. While mentioning the virtue of this Masjid, Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘One offering Salah in this Masjid attains the reward equal to one ‘Umrah.’ (Sahih Ibn Habbaan, vol. 3, pp. 74, Hadees 1625)

Keys to the treasures

Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘One day, I was asleep. Keys to the treasures of the earth were brought, and were placed in my hands.’ (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 2, pp. 303, Hadees 2977)

Kunjee tumhayn di Apnay khazano ki Khuda nay

Mahboob kiya Maalik-o-Mukhtar banaya

Lord has blessed you with the keys to His treasures

He made you His beloved; and owner and authoritative [over everything]

(Zauq-e-Na’at)

Mountains of gold

Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم states: ‘O ‘Aaishah! If I wanted, mountains of gold would walk with me.’ (Mishkat-ul-Masabih, vol. 2, part 4, pp. 368, Hadees 5835)
