Ways to Enter Jannah

Jannah is a house prepared by Allah عزّوجلّ for believers. He عزّوجلّ created such blessings in it which are neither seen by any human eye nor listened by any human ear , even no man has thought about these great blessings. The examples given to define Jannah are only for the sake of understanding otherwise there is no comparison of the greatest things of world with anything of Jannah. Allah عزّوجلّ describes the blessings of Jannah in these verses of Holy Quran:

“(The dwellers of Jannah will be) on studded (with diamonds
and pearls) thrones. Reclining on them, facing each other. Surrounded
by eternal youths. Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled
with flowing drinks (pure wine of Jannah) before them. Their heads
shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. And fruits
that they may like. And meat of birds that they may wish. And
gorgeous eyed fair maidens. Like pearls safely hidden”.

(Part 27, Surah Al Waqi’ah, verse 15 to 24)

These verses tell us that how glorious place is the Jannah decorated for its dwellers. The Holy Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ واٰلہ وسلم has stated that Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said:

“I عزّوجلّ have prepared for my pious bondmen those bounties
which no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard and no human
heart has ever perceived”.

(Sahih Muslim, pp. 1516, Hadees 2824)

In another Hadith the beloved Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ واٰلہ وسلم has stated: “A place in Jannah equal to the size of a whip is better than the whole world and whatever it contains”.

(Sahih Bukhari, vol. 2, pp. 392, Hadees 3250)

As a Muslim we do know these and many other blessings of Jannah so the question is! What is the way to enter Jannah? The first condition is Faith:

Having a strong believe in Allah عزّوجلّ His oneness, and believe in his Prophets علیہم السّلام , Books, Angels and on the Day of Judgment, one must have to obey all the orders given by Allah عزّوجلّ . Allah عزّوجلّ orders to fulfill two types of rights the first are the rights of Allah عزّوجلّ and second are the rights of His people. In the case of rights of Allah عزّوجلّ we must establish our prayers correctly, on time and in congregation. We must offer both obligatory and Sunnah prayers. We must pay Zakat from our wealth to those who are entitled to it, namely the poor, the debtor and others who deserve it. On doing so our intentions should be only for the sake of Allah عزّوجلّ not for show off. We must fast in Ramadan, abstaining from things which break our fast and avoiding all those acts which are forbidden. We must perform Hajj of the house of Allah عزّوجلّ by following his beloved Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ واٰلہ وسلم . We should avoid from all sins and forbidden acts during Hajj. Our acts should be based on piety and goodness.

In the other case, the case of rights of people first of all there is rights of parents. We must respect our parents by completely avoiding those acts which cause their anger. We must take care of them; listen to them, treating them in a proper manner and refrain from giving them any harm even if they don’t agree with our opinion. After parents we must fulfill the rights of our relatives, our brothers, sisters, spouse and other relatives by respecting them, visiting them, asking after them, finding out how they are and helping them as much as we can. We must respect our neighbors, treating them well and avoiding from giving them any type of harm and disturbing them in any way. We must keep relations with them even if they try to break relations with us.

We must avoid from doing Shirk. All our acts should be only for the pleasure of Allahعَزَّوَجَلَّ not for any other. Showing of our good deeds may spoil all of them. We must not obey any ruler, parents or teacher who orders us to disobey Allah عزّوجلّ . Avoiding from sins is also necessary. We should keep our thinking positive and we should never think about doing sins or any type of corrupt actions. Similarly we have to protect our ears from hearing wrong such as backbiting, lies, sinful talk, music or Kufr. We should protect our eyes from seeing wrong things such as non mehram. To protect our tongue we should take care about our every word. We should not abuse anyone, and avoid from backbiting.

We also have to protect our stomach from eating haram. We must avoid from RIBA. Similarly we have to protect our private places by keeping us away from Zinaa and by doing sex only with our lawful spouse. We have to protect our hands. We should not harm the Muslims by beating or killing with our hand, we should not take Haram with our hands and should not write any wrong wordings with our hands. We should protect our legs from walking towards sins. We should not break our promises, violate our agreements, go back on our words and give false testimony. All this is possible with the help of proper knowledge. We should learn the knowledge of the Holy Quran Pak and Hadith. Along with doing these acts we should seek forgiveness from Allah عزّوجلّ . As Allah عزّوجلّ said in Holy Quran:

“And rush towards forgiveness from your Lord, and towards a
Paradise that can hold all the heavens and the earth in its width -
prepared for the pious”.

(Part 4, Surah Aal-e-‘Imran, verse 133)

At the end we pray to Allah عزّوجلّ . O my Allah عزّوجلّ ! We want your pleasure and Jannah and question for those acts which bring us close to these two things. We admit your blessings and accept our sins. Please forgive us with your mercy. Ameen.
